REMEMBERING OUR ROOTS: RETRACING THE OLD TESTAMENT --
beginning September 12.
We hear again — or
experience for the first time — some of the key stories and meet some of the
main characters in our Family Tree that continue to speak to us through the
generations. Interwoven into this narrative look at the Old Testament, we will
pause along the way to explore the range of scholarly thought on topics such as
the Origin of the Bible, the Authority of Scripture, and the importance of the
Historical and Cultural Setting — all within the context of “the story.” Join
us as we encounter the people of God as they seek to find their identity and be
transformed, and as we encounter and consider both “what is written and how we
read it.”

FRESH VOICES, NEW GROWTH -- beginning September 12. Using an interactive
discussion format, we will explore what it means to be a Christian in today’s
world as we take a fresh look at the meaning of concepts like “faith,” “community,”
“salvation,” “sacrament,” and “service.” The class is designed to be
challenging and refreshing, drawing on a variety of sources in both classic and
contemporary spiritual thinking such as scripture, sermons, and song lyrics;
poetry, essays and book excerpts.

LEAVES OF GRACE: THE BPC BOOK GROUP -- Interest
meeting October 10, 1:00 p.m.
This
offering is for those who would like to delve into and discuss a full-length
book. Add your name to the signup sheet in the narthex if you are interested,
and if you are available, join us for an interest meeting on October 10
following the 11:15 a.m. service to choose titles and to determine the
design (i.e., meeting time and frequency) of this book group.

THE OASIS: A WEDNESDAY EVENING GATHERING --
offered Wednesdays, from 7:00-7:45 p.m. during the Rainbow Bible Study time
beginning October 6.
While these sessions would
be open to all, they are especially designed to be a refreshing gathering place
and a conversational learning opportunity for the parents of children who are
attending Rainbow or who might be attending Rainbow in the future. As is widely
known, The Rainbow Community includes and welcomes both those who are already
members, well connected to BPC, and those whose only affiliation to the
community is participation at Rainbow.
