Partners in God's Global Village Kibwezi Bethel Presbyterian Church Kibwezi, Kenya
Latest News
THE 2011 KIBWEZI WORKCAMP PARTICIPANTS returned in August from a mission of presence with and assistance for our Kenyan partners. This is the 23rd year BPC has been in partnership with the Kibwezi Bethel Church, Imani Primary School, Kibwezi Technic School, Tumaini Orphan Care Program, clinic and micro-finance groups.
Past Workcamps
In July 2009, a Burke team of adults, ministers and students went to Kibwezi, Kenya to help rebuild, teach computers and learn from our African partners in Christ. Please enjoy this short video describing our experience.
About the Partnership
An ocean, culture, languages, economics and politics separate the people of Burke, Virginia from those of Kibwezi, Kenya. A partnership of faith in action has brought us together.
Since 1987, Burke Presbyterian Church and Kibwezi Bethel Church have built a partnership based upon mutual trust, faith and respect.
Since the churches have much to give each other and Jesus calls us to love one another -- through letters and visits, we developed a list of ways we could assist one another in achieving God's purpose.
In East Africa where educational opportunity is limited, The Presbyterian Church of East Africa has made the church and the vocational school a primary mission focus in this arid land of subsistence farming and survival living. We have joined them in providing resources.
Also, we provide financial assistance, guidance and prayer for the Burke/Kibwezi Tumaini Orphan Care Program, which assists orphaned children where they are now living and provides "rescue" support if existing living conditions are inadequate or unsafe.
Sharing Resources
We, who are affluent and rich in goods, hunger for ways to enrich our spiritual lives. The Kibwezi project allows us ample opportunities to serve and grow in spirit... Kibwezi is a "spiritual wellspring" for us all. We are mutually enriched by sharing resources, ideas and faith -- working and worshiping together.
Through the synergy of this unique mission, our neighbor church, Clifton Presbyterian Church, and the United Church of Los Alamos, have also participated in significant ways.
The Possibilities in Partnership
You can become involved in this important partnership!
Involvement can be as basic as remembering our partners in prayer, making a donation, sponsoring a program or work camp participant, or as enriching and life-changing as participating in the summer work camp experience every three years in Kibwezi, Kenya, East Africa.
The possibilities are endless and the rewards are countless.

Our relationship in Kibwezi, Kenya is a partnership with Jesus Christ and each other; it is a bond of the Holy Spirit. Our working together is a small cooperative effort toward the building of the Kingdom of God.

"I thank my God in all remembrances of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, thankful for your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion in the day of Jesus Christ."
Philippians 1:3-5
