Hypothermia Response
Feb. 6, 8, 10 2012 at Westwood Baptist Church
In February 2012 Burke Presbyterian Church will once again partner with Westwood Baptist Church in Springfield to provide shelter and sustenance to the homeless. If you participated in Hypothermia earlier this year you will remember that the facilities at Westwood are spacious and comfortable and provide a welcoming venue for homeless men and women during the typically harsh month of February.
Please begin to consider how you might participate on one of our three nights, which are Monday (February 6), Wednesday (February 8), and Friday (February 10). We will be looking for volunteers to cook and serve dinner and breakfast, to provide snacks each evening, to be present with the guests after dinner, to spend the night with the guests and particularly, at this early date, individuals to lead the team each evening.
BPC’s participation in the Hypothermia Response program is our most visible response to our call to aid the homeless of Fairfax County and we have been faithful in our service since the program’s inception. It does require the labor of large numbers of the congregation but the result is a safe, warm space for people who would otherwise be without one during the winter and this goal is worth the effort it takes.
Sign up sheets are located on the slat board in the narthex or contact Linda Greenlees or Dot
