Confirmation
As members of the Christian community, we are inheritors of and participants in a journey that began long before the birth of Jesus. Since the beginning of God's relationship with humanity we have been people of promise on a journey in faith.
In baptism our parents announced their faith in Jesus Christ and their desire for their children to know Christ, study Christ, and serve Christ as Christ's disciple; Confirmation at Burke Presbyterian Church is the time for you to decide for yourself and confirm that commitment. In Confirmation we will look at the inheritance we have received down through history, at some of the people who are part of our spiritual roots, and at what it means today to decide to be a part of that faith journey.
From September through May, confirmands will explore their faith with an adult sponsor, attend Sunday morning classes and worship, go on retreat together, attend field trips to various houses of worship, participate in the Sunday evening youth program, and serve in a soup kitchen. Through theses opportunities to learn, explore, wonder, question, and act, you will decide whether this is the time for you to become a confirmed member of God's covenant community - the Church. If you decide that it is, you will be received as a confirmed member during a worship service in May.

Confirmation is an exciting step in the growth of faith. We urge youth and parents to talk and consider carefully becoming part of this class. We hope you will join us in this journey toward becoming disciples through Sabbath, Study and Service!
