Jon Wood joins us during the Sunday school hour today, to kick off our month-long series on the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.

“We recall that Protestantism renewed the vocational principle of ‘priesthood of believers,’” Wood tells us. “Unfortunately, many Protestants today (including many Presbyterians) have assumed a deep aversion to the very word priesthood, without much reflection on its positive aspects. So, how is the idea of priesthood essential to Christian life in the world, including our ‘secular' vocations? May such questions yield a better picture of the Reformation, and, more emphatically, may they lead to eager, joyful, and courageous lives of faith today!”

Jon teaches in the religion department at George Washington University and is a member of the company of teachers of the Reformed Institute of Metropolitan Washington. Jon and his family attend Lewinsville Presbyterian Church in McLean. Join us in the Meeting House at 10:15 a.m.!
