Special Services and Other Ways to Worship

Burke Presbyterian Church offers services to honor special dates on the liturgical calendar. Each of these celebrations provides an opportunity to deepen our relationship with God and strengthen our bonds with each other and the community. Examples include services for Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Easter, World Communion Sunday, and an Interfaith Thanksgiving service. For information about a specific service, see our calendar or get in touch with the church office, at 703-764-0456 or office@BurkePresChurch.org.

In busy and stressful times, we need to quiet our busy minds, re-center ourselves, and open our hearts and minds to the presence of God. At Burke Presbyterian Church, we offer opportunities and spaces for contemplative worship.

Labyrinth Ministry – A labyrinth walk is an ancient method of practicing meditation, calming and prayer while slowly walking along the path. You are invited to walk the outdoor labyrinth at your leisure. The labyrinth is located in the Memorial Garden near the upper parking lot entrance. It is marked by rocks and shaped into a gentle, walkable path. If you prefer to walk indoors, a canvas labyrinth is placed on the floor inside the Meeting House the first Monday of most months from 1:00 to 7:30 pm. Check our calendar for details.

Meditation Room – For a more private setting, our meditation room offers a quiet place for prayer. A prayer net holds symbols of those prayers. Kneelers and cushions are provided.

Contemplative Worship Services – These services are typically more intimate and feature soft music, light, prayer time, and communion and are offered several times each year.
