Retreats
Various special retreats are planned throughout the year. In the fall of 2019, we have two exciting events planned:
A weekend-long Women’s Retreat, October 4-6: All women of the church are invited to an overnight retreat in Chambersburg, PA. We have reserved space at the Rhodes Grove Conference Center, which is about two hours from Burke, and our retreat leader will be former BPC Associate Pastor MaryAnn McKibben Dana. We will explore the theme of “God, Improv, and the Art of Living”— which MaryAnn wrote a book about recently—and spend time relaxing, reading, walking, praying, and savoring space together. The retreat experience begins with Friday afternoon check-in. We’ll have dinner together and begin our sessions Friday evening. Saturday begins with a communal breakfast, morning sessions, and a great lunch. Afternoon free time, music, play, and study sessions lead us to a special dinnertime and an evening of fun. Sunday morning breakfast, sessions, song, and worship will lift our hearts as we head toward home.
The Miller Lodging Wing, where we will be staying, was built in 2002. It features 30 hotel-style rooms and is attached directly to the Meadows Conference Center which has meeting rooms and a kitchenette, along with a dining area and game room. The front lobby features a welcoming stone fireplace and rocking chairs. Rooms throughout the facility are accessible, with elevator access to all floors. All guest rooms have private baths and include bed linens, blankets, towels and pillows. Approximately 70% of the rooms have 2 full beds; the other rooms have 1 full and 2 twin beds and will be used as triples.
Your retreat package includes Friday and Saturday night accommodations and 5 buffet meals—Rhodes Grove has a reputation for great food. Coffee, tea, juice and water are available at a beverage island in the dining room any time of day or night, and we may bring in snacks.
- Fees: Double room lodging and 5 meals: $232; Triple room lodging and 5 meals: $200.
- Please register early if you have roommate preferences; accommodations include two and three-person rooms. We will make every effort to grant roommate requests.
- If God is calling you to attend but finances are tight, scholarships may be available. If you are feeling led, donations to a scholarship fund are gratefully accepted.

Church Picnics
BPC Church Picnics let our church family worship and enjoy fellowship together in a lovely outdoor setting. Generally held in early summer, the picnic includes worship time, a potluck picnic lunch and the “Annual BPC Wacky Games,” open to the whole family!
