A message from Pastor Becca Messman about our 2027 stewardship campaign:
Dear Friends,
Jesus says, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” He also describes himself as the bread he gives “for the life of the world.” These words name both Christ’s gift and our calling. We receive life from God, and then, by grace, that life moves through us.
I see that life throughout Burke Presbyterian Church. I see it when a person arrives unsure and discovers friends who know their name. I hear it when many voices become one in worship. I witness it when a Deacon shows up, a child asks a brave question, an adult’s faith deepens, or our church speaks with courage and compassion in our tumultuous world. I see it when we serve beside our actual neighbors and lives, including our own, are changed.
This October, our stewardship season will follow that movement: Life Together, Life Shared,
Life Renewed, and Life Given Away. In 2027, we hope to expand small groups and spiritual
retreats, deepen worship and welcome, strengthen spiritual formation, interweave care across generations, and extend our mission in the community and beyond. This is the 40th year of Rainbow. We can see our 50th birthday as a church on the horizon. What we do this year shapes who we will be and we know the future needs a healthy, strong, active, welcoming church!
These hopes require more than a budget. They require us: our presence, our prayer, our service, and our financial commitments. I invite you to consider what God has entrusted to you and what commitment you can make for 2027. You may bring your commitment on Sunday, October 25, return it by mail, or pledge online. (Check out the artwork BPC children made for this campaign!)
We do not give from fear of what the budget needs. We give from a deep hope about what God is bringing to life. We give knowing that none of this is “ours” but a gift from God that we hope is shared with as many people as possible, as deeply as possible.
Thank you for the many ways you are part of that life at BPC and for the ways your generosity becomes life for others.
With gratitude,
Rev. Becca Messman
