Alternative Gifts – Holiday Giving

Make a donation to a cause that BPC supports in honor of someone close to you and receive a certificate that can be tucked into a stocking or wrapped and put under the tree. You can purchase certificates by email or at church on Sundays in December (8, 15 & 22) after each service. BPC to host CROP Hunger Walk

Burke Presbyterian Church will host the 32nd Burke/Fairfax CROP Hunger Walk on November 3, 2024. Last year, over 280 walkers participated, raising over $32,000 to alleviate hunger locally and globally. Coat Drive

BPC youth along with the Mission Committee are hosting a coat drive in advance of the Cornerstones’ coat distribution on November 15. You can help by donating new or gently used coats, gloves, hats, scarves by November 6. We’ve set up bins to receive your donations; they are located next to the Mission Center (across from the coffee bar). The children in need of these materials span the range of toddlers to teenagers. Kibwezi Silent Auction

Each year, BPC hosts an auction of goods and services provided by members of the church. All proceeds to go our partners in ministry in Kibwezi, Kenya. ECHO Food Drive

September is the month BPC makes a special effort to collect food for ECHO.  During the height of the pandemic, the need for basic groceries increased dramatically, and donors stepped up. Followed by supply chain disruptions, soaring food costs due to inflation, and now the end of pandemic related subsidies, the need in our community seems to be growing. ECHO distributes approximately 11,000 pounds of food each month, but recently food donations have not met the increasing requests. We hope…

Help Restock ECHO’s Food Room in September

September is the month BPC makes a special effort to collect food for ECHO. A summer with few food drives and low food donations has left ECHO’s Food Pantry with urgent needs. We hope that our generous community will help us.  Requests for food assistance are higher than pre-Covid levels. The Peace & Global Witness offering enables the churches in our denomination to promote the Peace of Christ by addressing systems of conflict and injustice across the world. Father’s Day Offering for Ukraine

We are collecting funds for medical supplies for Ukrainians defending their country from invasion. For two years, Russian bombs have targeted Ukrainian hospitals, power stations, and supermarkets; forcing regular Ukrainians to join the armed forces to protect their families. Today, we seek to lessen that burden and honor fathers throughout the world by providing funds for life-saving medical equipment that will help Ukrainians come home safely. Community Meals

After the successful efforts for the Hypothermia Shelter last winter, we are continuing our outreach by supporting FACETS hot meals program. FACETS is a local organization that supports people in vulnerable situations. Starting Wednesday, June 5th, our community meals team will be preparing 150 meals for the FACETS van to transport to people in need. We will continue this on the first Wednesday of every month. ECHO’s annual food drive-Stamp out Hunger
